In short: we collect only what we need to run Bandword. We never sell your data, show ads, or use tracking cookies. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
1. Who we are
Bandword (bandword.com) is an online IELTS Writing coaching and checking tool, operated from India. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Bandword. Questions? Email bandwordforyou@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your email (and may share your name and profile picture) with us.
- Your writing: the questions, sentences, essays, reports and letters you type or paste, plus your coaching conversation, so we can give feedback and let you resume a session.
- Account activity: your credit balance, chosen level, and which practice questions you have completed.
- Payment records: amount, date and order ID. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by our payment partners. We never see or store them.
- Technical data: basic logs kept by our hosting providers (such as IP address and browser type) for security, and small items saved in your browser to keep you logged in and remember simple settings.
3. Why we use it
- To run the service: log you in, coach and mark your writing, and track your credits.
- To process payments and keep records the law requires.
- To prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
- To reply when you contact us.
4. How AI is used
Your writing is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to create feedback and band estimates. Under its business terms, Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. We do not use your writing for advertising.
5. Who helps us run Bandword
We share data only with the services needed to run Bandword:
- Supabase: login and database
- Anthropic: AI feedback
- Netlify: website hosting
- Cloudflare: domain and security
- Google: sign-in, if you choose it
- Razorpay: payments in India
- Our international payment partner: payments from outside India
Some of these providers may store or process data outside India. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except payment records we must keep by law.
7. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- stop using it (withdraw your consent)

8. Young users
Bandword is made for IELTS candidates. If you are under 18, please use Bandword only with your parent's or guardian's permission.
9. Security
We use secure (HTTPS) connections and trusted providers to protect your data. No online service can promise 100% security, but we work hard to keep your data safe.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
