Questions
How many words should an IELTS Task 2 essay be?
At least 250 words. Writing under 250 lowers your Task Response score. Around 270–300 words is a safe target.
Does a longer essay get a higher band?
No. Examiners judge the quality of your language and ideas, not the length. Bandword marks the same way.
How long do I have for Task 2?
About 40 minutes. You can practise with Bandword's built-in exam timer.
